Shining Moments

September 2010:  The real "coming alive" started when I became a volunteer Congressional District Leader for ONE.

July 2011:  Things became more exciting after participating in a listening/learning trip to Kenya as a member of the ONE Moms Advisory Council.

From these two experiences the doors were opened:

*Speaking with Members of Congress:  I have had numerous meetings both locally and on Capitol Hill with Members of Congress and their Staff advocating for programs that are saving millions of lives on less than 1% of the US budget.

*ONE Moms on ABC World News and Good Morning America (My kids and I have an appearance!)

*UNC-TV North Carolina Now:  Interview with fellow North Carolinian ONE Mom, Jennifer James, and myself on the UNC-TV program North Carolina Now-- (we are at minute 17:30)

*WWAY-TV interview:  Person of the week on our local ABC affiliate.

*Meeting in the West Wing of the White House with Dr. Jill Biden, USAID Administrator Raj Shah, and Gayle Smith of the National Security Council.

*WECT News:  Numerous local events that I have organized; documentary screenings, Full Belly Project voluneer days, and UN Women Walk have been covered on local NBC news affiliate.

*Mom it Forward: Featured on blog.

*Lumina News: Post Kenya article by Michelle Saxton.
Article in the September 2011 edititon of WILMA

*Articles published quarterly in the UNA-USA Coastal Carolina Chapter Newsletter.  I can email a copies per request

*Cape Fear Rotary keynote speaker, as well as local chapter of UN Women, Coastal Carolina UNA-USA Annual Breakfast, and several local schools.

I also passionately advocate for some local loves of mine: DREAMS and The Full Belly Project
